Temporary Fence Panels for Windsor Bridge Replacement

The Project

The historic Windsor Bridge in Sydney’s North West was built in 1874 and is one of the oldest in Australia. Originally designed for horse-drawn vehicles, it is now a busy thoroughfare.

By 2026, it is expected that more than 25,000 northbound vehicles will use the bridge every day. Additionally, NSW RMS has significant concerns that in the event of a major flood, the bridge would fail, leaving the residents of Windsor without a safe crossing. The bridge is already used by more than 19,000 vehicles daily, and has therefore reached the end of its practical life.

Due to the inability of the original bridge to manage this volume of traffic and its age, RMS has engaged Georgiou Group to build a replacement bridge featuring two lanes southbound and one northbound.

The new structure will funnel traffic from upgraded intersections and new approach roads on both sides of the Hawkesbury River. The new 156 metre bridge is located just downstream of the existing one.

Georgiou Group established a work site and needed to cordon off the area, to exclude pedestrians and vehicles whilst construction was taking place. An affordable temporary fence was required and Fortress Fencing was able to assist.

The Solution

Fortress Fencing supplied the contractors with our strong 2000 Series temporary fence package. This kit included 65 fence panels, along with feet/blocks, couplers and bracing, totalling 160 metres.

This cheap temp fence is ideal for contractors looking for a reliable and easy to install temporary site fence. Made from strong galvanised wire with an ‘anti-climb’ security pattern, it features long rectangular grid mesh which makes it difficult for vandals to climb.

The Fortress Fencing 2000 Series is ideal for light civil and construction projects. It is easily erected to secure your construction site and can be installed by just one person.

Although it is our ‘economy’ panel, the 2000 Series is still high quality, featuring 33mm OD verticals and horizontals and galvanised steel mesh on a panel that measures 2.1m high x 2.4m long.

With the addition of concrete filled fence feet, bracing for support, and couplers to easily clip all the fence panels together, our temp fence packages are an economical choice for work sites such as this one at Windsor.
